Components Bar

The Components Bar by default is located on the left side of the Work Window, and the buttons appear in Large Size. (You may change these settings, if you wish. See Toolbar Options Dialog Box and Toolbar Options Dialog Box for more information.)

Use the buttons in the Components Bar to create and edit objects and their components, such as geometry and shading. You may also edit page properties.

Controls on the Components Bar include the following:

Control Description
Object Edit – Click to perform advanced moving, stretching, rotation, skew, and origin placement operations. The Object Edit button provides full interactive editing of objects but is less convenient than the Page Layout button for simple object placement and scaling. Page Layout – Click to move and scale a selected object in the Work Window using your mouse. For more information, see Move Object.
Edit Vertices – With an object selected, click to perform vertex editing. For more information, see Vertex Editor Dialog Box.
Lock Object – Click to lock or unlock a selected object's transformation matrix. For more information, see Lock/Unlock Object.
Rectangle – Click to create a new rectangle object. For more information, see Rectangle Objects.
Ellipse – Click to create a new ellipse object. For more information, see Ellipse Objects.
Polygon – Click to create a new polygon object. For more information, see Polygon Objects .
Curve – Click to create a new curve object. For more information, see Curve Objects.
Title – Click to open the Title Editor dialog box to create a title as an object on the current page. For more information, see Title Objects.
Picture – Click to display the Open dialog box to browse for image files to insert as an object onto the current page. For more information, see Image Objects.
Code Text – Click to open the Text Editor dialog box in Code Edit Mode to create or load code as an object onto the current page. For more information, see Code Objects.
Formatted Text – Click to open the Text Editor dialog box in Text Edit Mode to create text as an object onto the current page. For more information, see Text Objects.
Import Foreign Object – Click to open the Foreign Object/Media dialog box to insert files, plug-ins, Java applets, HTML IFrames, SVG files, Macromedia® Flash® files, or other multimedia files as an object onto the current page. For more information, see Foreign Objects.
Table – Click to create a new table object. For more information, see Table Objects.
Page Editor – Click to open the Page Editor dialog box to modify page properties. For more information, see Page Editor Dialog Box.

Quick Properties Editor – With an object selected, click to open the Quick Properties Editor dialog box associated with the selected object. Or, with no object selected, click to open the Quick Properties Editor dialog box to select any object in the project to edit. For more information, see Quick Properties Editor Dialog Box .

Vertical Line – Click to create a new vertical line object. For more information, see Line Objects (Horizontal and Vertical).

Horizontal Line – Click to create a new horizontal line object. For more information, see Line Objects (Horizontal and Vertical).

Triangle – Click to create a new triangle object. For more information, see Triangle Objects.
