Transformations Tab

Use the Transformations Tab on the Object Editor dialog box to precisely set an object’s positioning, scaling, skew, and rotation.

Using the Quick Properties Editor dialog box allows you to see the changes as you adjust the numbers and may be helpful for transformations. (For more information, see Quick Properties Editor Dialog Box .)

Precisely set an object’s positioning, scaling, skew, or rotation using the Transformations Tab of the Object Editor dialog box.

Controls on the Transformations Tab of the Object Editor dialog box include the following:

Field/Control Description
Horizontal Position Use the spinner to move the selected object left or right along the horizontal (X) axis. Or, you may enter a coordinate in the box (in pixels) to position the object precisely where you want it along the horizontal axis.

Click to select either the Absolute or Relative radio button. Absolute means the object will be positioned at the exact horizontal pixel coordinate you specify. Relative means the object will be positioned relative to the project’s target resolution, as set in the Project Target Options dialog box. (For more information, see Positioning.)

Vertical Position Use the spinner to move the selected object up or down along the vertical (Y) axis. Or, you may enter a coordinate in the box (in pixels) to position the object precisely where along the vertical you want it.

Click to select either the Absolute or Relative radio button. Absolute means the object will be positioned at the exact horizontal pixel coordinate you specify. Relative means the object will be positioned relative to the project’s target resolution, as set in the Project Target Options dialog box. (For more information, see Positioning.)

Horizontal Scaling Use the spinner to stretch or shrink the object horizontally. Or, you may enter a factor in the box (in pixels) to increase or reduce precisely the horizontal scale of the object. The default scaling factor is 1; thus, entering 2.00 in the box would increase the object’s scale horizontally by two times.
Mirror Click to flip the object horizontally.
Maintain Aspect Ratio Click to checkmark to apply identical scaling factors to both the Horizontal and Vertical axes.
Vertical Scaling Use the spinner to stretch or shrink the object vertically. Or, you may enter a factor in the box (in pixels) to increase or reduce precisely the vertical scale of the object. The default scaling factor is 1; thus, entering 0.50 in the box would reduce by half the object’s scale vertically.
Flip Click to flip the object vertically.
Skew X Use the spinner to slant the object along the horizontal axis. Or, you may enter an angle, in degrees, in the box to skew the object horizontally.
Skew Y Use the spinner to slant the object along the vertical axis. Or, you may enter an angle, in degrees, in the box to skew the object vertically.
Text, table, code, or foreign objects cannot be skewed.
Rotation Use the spinner to rotate the object clockwise or counter-clockwise around its axis. Or, you may enter a degree to rotate the object precisely. (Enter a negative value to rotate counter-clockwise.)
Text, table, code, or foreign objects cannot be rotated.
No CSS Positioning Click to checkmark to strip any positioning code from the HTML for the selected object. This option is used primarily on code objects or imported HTML that include their own positioning. For more information, see No CSS Positioning.
Reset Click to remove all transformation settings for the selected object. This will cause the object to appear at the top left corner of the Work Window without any scaling, skew, or rotation.
Lock/Unlock Click to toggle the locking and unlocking of the selected object. Locking protects the object from accidental transformations. Unlocking a locked object will permit transformation of the object. For more information, see Lock/Unlock Object.
OK Click to accept the current settings and exit the dialog box.
Cancel Click to cancel the operation and close the dialog box.
Help Click to open a context-sensitive help topic.
